Fun idea from Clawhammer Supply. Somebody let me know if you try this.
"Love sparkling water? We did too, until we discovered hop water. You might not have heard of it before, but hop water is tastier, healthier, and it's super easy to make. In this video, we'll tell you what it is, how to brew it (and tweak it to your liking), and how to bottle/keg it so you have an infinite supply at the ready.
In short, it's carbonated water brewed with hops instead of fruit/artificial flavors. Hops are typically known as being one of the primary ingredients in your favorite beer styles. They're what gives beer its characteristic bitterness and flavor (they're also really good for you)."
Stone Brewing: "In 2019, we partnered with the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) to host a people’s choice homebrew competition at our Richmond, Virginia brewing facility. The clear favorite and winner of the competition was a creamy, hoppy, tropical creation from Richmond native Rusty Burrell of Rusty Barrel Home Brewing. Over the years, these competitions (which we’ve hosted as far back as 2009) have resulted in some of the most unique and sought-after beers we’ve brewed – only thanks to the ingenuity of folks like Rusty. No matter which beer takes the prize, everyone wins when creative brewers get to share their passion with the people. And it all starts with one batch.
Intense aromas and flavors of coconut, mango, fresh fruit, and vanilla are balanced by a creamy, thick body and pleasant sweetness. There are some underlying tropical notes from hops to round everything out. A very complex beer that unfolds with layer upon layer with every sip as all the components work together."
Love this video from Founders Brewing Co. as Centennial is one of my favorite all-time IPAs. Always so balanced.
Let Marklyn, one of our Education Managers, guide you through the ins and outs of Centennial IPA, a stalwart of our year-round lineup and a titan of the IPA scene.
Dogfish Head: "Blue Hen Pilsner is a crisp and refreshing pilsner brewed with only four ingredients – water, hops, yeast, and barley. What makes it so special, is that all the barley used in Blue Hen Pilsner is grown and malted right in our backyard of the Delmarva Peninsula. Giving a loving nod to our slight yet mighty home state, the label art features the Delaware state bird and a color palette similar to that of the Delaware state flag! Look for this all-day drinking pilsner wherever you find great indie craft beer."
Fun video from New Belgium Brewing: "We sat down with our founder Kim Jordan and discussed the history of New Belgium and her commitment to making beer a force for good in the world. Maybe we’re a little biased, but it’s a pretty wonderful story - and we’re so excited to share it with you."
Man I just love Baltic porters. A good one has the malt flavors of a brown porter and the roastiness of a schwarzbier, with a pretty high abv. Definitely not for the weak. Around here you can find great versions like Great Raft Old Mad Joy or Lost Forty Puffy Jacket if you want to begin exploring the style, and I highly suggest you do.
Also, you can get started by checking out the guys from The Craft Beer Channel diving into the history of this excellent beer style:
"This week Jonny and Brad answer the question that's puzzled beer geeks since the dawn of time – what's the difference between Porter and Stout? As well as tasting two classic examples, they dive into the history to work our the historical difference between Porter and Stout in the 1700s, 1800s and 1900s – and in doing dig up the origins of Guinness... and how that's different too. Stop saying different."
"The point of putting beer into barrels is not to age it, it's to allow it to mature." Join Sierra Nevada brewers Nick and Jeff for a behind-the-scenes tour of their barrel room and a glimpse of special beers to come.
Meet the newest member of Sierra Nevada Brewing's Little Thing family: Big Little Thing. At a monster 9% ABV, how does Big Little Thing Imperial IPA achieve mega-tropical hops yet keep the sweetness tame and the finish clean? Sip along with their Beer Adventurer, Daniel Govan as he talks ingredients, brewing process, and BIG flavor.
Really happy to see one of my favorites return! I was bummed when they took it away as there really aren't a lot of black IPAs around, and this one is delicious.
It's the perfect time of year for brewing a sweet and chocolatey nitro "milk stout." Well, any time of year is perfect for that. Anyway, it's like hot cocoa... but beer. Or smores... but BEER. In all seriousness, this turned out to be a deliciously creamy stout with subtle hints of roasted marshmallow. Kyle walks through an incredibly precise and heavily planned solo brew day while Emmet drinks beer. This is definitely one we recommend. Try it out and enjoy!
Welt Documentary: 16 days of madness! Some 6.5 million people travel to the Munich Oktoberfest in Germany every year – and they all head for the beer tents! But they’re often closed due to overcrowding! The Wies’n – as it’s commonly known - is the biggest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair) in the world! If you can’t have fun here – you’ve only yourself to blame!
Note... The 2020 Oktoberfest was official cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Dogfish Head: "We've joined forces with Indigo Agriculture to brew Re-Gen-Ale, the first traceably sourced beer to address climate change through agriculture using Indigo Carbon, a program that provides growers with a financial incentive to store carbon in their soils! Releasing on Saturday, September 19, from our Off-Centered EmPOURium in downtown Rehoboth Beach, Re-Gen-Ale offers drinkers the opportunity to give back to the planet with every pint or can consumed, making it the perfect jumpstart to this year’s Climate Week (Sept. 21-27) festivities!
This unique partnership with Indigo, a company dedicated to harnessing nature to help farmers sustainably feed the planet, began back in January, when the first test batches of Re-Gen-Ale were brewed. Through Indigo’s Grain Marketplace, a platform used to connect growers and buyers of crops, we were able to secure the traceably sourced ingredients to produce Re-Gen-Ale, including sustainable wheat grown with regenerative farming. We also committed to purchasing more than the amount of carbon credits needed to offset the production of Re-Gen-Ale."
A new potential summer favorite via the mighty Stone Brewing: "In 1996, Stone Brewing was founded in San Diego County, just minutes from the border. Since then, influence from our southern neighbors has enriched and inspired us on our undying mission to brew bold, flavorful beers. One such inspiration is Stone Xocoveza, our imperial stout originally released in 2014 to bring the rich, complex flavors of Mexican hot chocolate to beer. It’s with mucho gusto that we now follow with our take on a classic lager that is similarly inspired (and tasty) - Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager.
Brewer Ben Sheehan created this beer while working down at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station. Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager’s inspiration comes from Southern California, which is vibrantly influenced by our neighbors to the South. California's spoiling, warm weather encourages outdoor activity year round - and now the rest of the nation can join in. From surfing our coasts, to snowboarding and biking in the mountains, off-roading through deserted lands, or boating and fishing in our lakes, Stone Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager is an excellent companion. It’s a thrillingly crisp, clean, refreshing Mexican-style lager that quenches thirsts, while gratifying taste buds via lime and sea salt."
Found this really good YouTube series called "Beer With Nat" that has a lot of great info for us beer lovers. Follow her or watch here for posts of her videos. Or both.

From Dogfish Head Brewery: "After an epic visit from Grateful Dead archivist and legacy manager David Lemieux in February 2019, we knew we'd have to do it all again. Almost exactly one year later, David joined us back in coastal Delaware this past February for another weekend of fun - complete with a tour, meet & greet, dinner and a show. In the midst of a busy weekend, we managed to find time for Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione to sit down with David and catch up on all things Dogfish Head, Grateful Dead and American Beauty. Watch as they reminisce on how this beautiful collaboration got its start, reflect on this year's release and dream of what's to come!
**Note: this was filmed in late February 2020 before our coastal Delaware properties closed due to COVID-19 concerns.**"
